Results are In, and the word is out! Auburn Brew Club places 2nd in national Strong Ale competition!

ribbon41 homebrew clubs from 19 states entered the first AHA Club Only Competition for the 2007-2008 year, a competition for Strong Ales (Old Ales, English Barleywines and American Barleywines). The judging pool was entirely made up of BJCP judges, and the Best of Show (BOS) panel had almost 40 years judging experience between the 3 BJCP judges (and the two BOS stewards were both BJCP judges as well!).

Congratulations to the Auburn Brew Club, only a few months old and already on the map as serious homebrewers! The results for the American Homebrewer’s Association Club Only Competition Strong Ale are as follows:

1st 19B English Barleywine, Scott Endicott, Salt Lake City, UT, ZZ Hops
2nd 19C American Barleywine, John Little, Auburn, AL, Auburn Brew Club
3rd 19A Old Ale, Steve Haney, Thornton, TX, North Texas Homebrewers

This is the first round, so we have to keep up this momentum!

The next few beers are: Bock (September), Pilsner, Dark Lagers, Perfect Porter, and finally Extract.

More info can be found on the AHA Website

If you’ve never entered in the club only competition, it is one of the hardest in my opinion. This is totally awesome! But then again, I would hope that John would win, with the amount of homebrew equipment he owns! :)
