Podcast of Auburn Brew Club September 2007 meeting

Podcast of Auburn Brew Club September 2007 meetingFor our 1 confirmed listener, here it is. We tried to do something a little different this time to try to make it a little better. We decided we’d try out just having a special topic for each month for a 30 to 45 minute or so discussion. Since Derrell and Gonzo of Hopheads came up from Phenix City to join us, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to find out more about their club. They still hadn’t recovered fully from the 2007 Emerald Coast Beer Fest the weekend before, but we really appreciate their committment to homebrewing by making the trip anyway. Turns out, we’re only about 20 minutes away, so we hope we get to have many combined events. Here’s a link to the YouTube video Derrell created at the event. We’re hoping to charter a bus and all go down there next year together. You can see in the video that another Alabama homebrew club, the LA Lagers, had a booth at the event also.

We officially judged Curt’s Dry Stout on BJCP scoresheets, and Stephen won the beer raffle. Derrell and Gonzo brought an excellent American IPA and English Barleywine with them, Bruce brought his Trumpet of Death Belgian Golden Strong, Curt brought a Brussel’s Black Ale, Paul brought an Brown Ale and American Pale Ale, Mike brought a Stout and English Brown Ale. Stephen brought a bunch of beers, but since he was a little late and we’d already quickly gotten beyond the lighter beers, we only got to try his Russian Imperial Stout. We also had a Brown Porter, Premium American Lager, Bier de Garde, and a Whiskey Barrel Aged English Barleywine.
