Alabama is 1 of only 5 (soon to be 4) states where homebrewing is illegal. The other states are Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Utah.
Now it seems Utah (the ultra conservative anti-alcohol world capital of Mormonism) is on the verge of legalizing homebrewing. Shouldn’t Alabama be able to make some progress on this issue?

Subject: Utah Homebrew Legalization Passes House!Hi All,
The bill we’ve been working on to legalize homebrewing in Utah passed the House of Representatives today by a vote of 55 - 13!
The bill, HB 425, now moves on to the Utah Senate, where it could go to a vote before the end of this week or early next week at the latest.
Utah homebrewers can help ensure H.B. 425’s passage by contacting their state Senator and politely urging him/her to vote in favor of the bill. Follow this link to find out who your representative is and how to contact him/her: http://se15.utahsenate.org/perl/spage/distmapal.pl
If you do not reside in Utah, but have friends or relatives who do, please forward this message on to them. Non-Utah residents should not contact the Utah legislature, as doing so could be detrimental to the bill’s passage.
See http://le.utah.gov/~2008/bills/hbillint/hb0425s01.htm for the text of HB 425.
We are now very close to legalizing homebrewing in Utah!

This post made me laugh–or cry–not sure. There is something wrong if Utah beats us to legalizing homebrewing. I LOVE the book of Mormonism pic.
AGAIN…..
The AHA needs to show Alabama some love.
Why all the love for Utah and none to us?
