Help needed to get SB355 out of Committee
In this year’s Alabama legislative session, there have been 5 beer and wine related bills sent to the Senate Committee on Tourism and Marketing. On February 21st, 3 of the 5 were considered, voted out of committee and sent to the Senate floor. The only 2 bills not considered were a keg registration bill and our homebrewing bill.
We discovered today that the reason the Senators haven’t felt the need to bring the bill up for consideration is that not enough people have contacted them about the bill. They don’t think anyone really cares about this issue. They don’t even know what it’s about. And because there’s no noise being made about the bill, they don’t even care to find out what its about.
It’s up to us to change that. Here are the members of the Senate Tourism and Marketing Committee. They each need to hear from you as soon as possible. If you like, use one or more of the AHA’s Talking Points to make your case.
Express your position politely and ask the Senators to send SB355 to the Senate floor.

Please support the bill to allow homebrewing in Alabama.
I called each of these Senators this morning. I think the passage of the Utah Bill in their State House is particularly embarassing to us in Alabama. Talk about behind the times…….
I also emailed the AHA to get them on the ball on this one. As a member and avid brewer since 1999, this needs to finally be officially legal.
BTW, Sen Little’s office says they have received many calls about this today already!
Nearly all the senate office numbers have voicemail. That means we can call at all hours and on weekends and still leave our message for them. Ron
I called all of the committee members last Friday and left messages with their secretaries. I also emailed them RE: SB355 & SB116 (Gourmet Beer Bill).
