Every time I turn on the news, I see that a meth lab has exploded in Alabama and law enforcement targets homebrewers!? What is importnat here isn't that Scott has run afoul of the ABC or that he has comitted an illegal act. What is important here is that Alabama has the MOST restrictive laws on the books with regard to alcohol and that this is being fuelled by the overwhelming ignorance of the Southern Baptist Convention. Here we see a situation where a very small but very vocal group of dumb asses have set the policies for us all. I believe these laws and the effort to prosecute these "criminals" is a gross misuse of power and a waste of resources. Damn the ABC and brew your beer! If Alabama wants to stop a real crime then maybe they should divert the resources used to hunt down homebrewers and focus those resources on meth labs!

Drunk Teenagers? Eliminate 30 packs or 36 packs of cheap beer ! Do what other states have done and require kegs to have IDs so that if consumed at illegal underage parties, the purchaser can be prosecuted. The logic for the banning of homebrew is beyond me. Don't a lot of teenagers die in auto accidents? Then Ban luxury cars and the tools used to work on cars! Same convoluted logic. How about hunting accidents or shootings? Ban the high end firearms and reloading equipment. Or, just use some common sense and let adults make adult decisions.

scott was breaking the law. as are all home brewers in alabama. so that makes him a lawbreaker as you so unkindly put it. he was the dumb ass that allowed his name to be displayed and to make it worse he allowed his picture to be taken. so stay the hell out of other people to business.

Thanks to your artical portraying Scott as a lawbreaker, you have drawn unwanted attention from the ABC board and Scott will no longer be able to brew beer. This is NOT the kind of media attention we need. Stay the hell out of Alabama!
